PUBLIC INVITED TO EXPLORE FREE 10TV HEALTH & FITNESS EXPO THIS WEEKEND “We’re happy to again provide the expo as a means of delivering as many health-care resources as possible to our community in a single event,” said WBNS-TV President and General Manager Tom Griesdorn. Expo hours in Exhibit Halls E and F are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 18 and Sunday, August 19. Admission is free and open to the public. Special guest Dr. Drew Pinsky is a board-certified physician specializing in internal and addiction medicine and is the host of the “Dr. Drew” television show and “Loveline” syndicated radio show. He will appear at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 18 on the Donate Life Demonstration Stage and then sign autographs afterward for an hour. The next day will feature Kyle Maynard, an inspirational speaker and mixed martial arts athlete who has twice won the ESPY Award presented to the best athlete with a disability. He will appear at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 19 on the Donate Life Demonstration Stage and sign autographs afterward. Maynard was born with a congenital amputation condition, resulting in arms that extend only to his elbows and legs only to the knees. Undaunted, he has become the first man to crawl unassisted to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. He has been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, elected one of the 10 “Outstanding Young Americans” by the U.S. Jaycees and opened his own fitness center, No Excuses CrossFit. New exhibits for this third annual event are the Distracted Driving Simulator and the Asthma Express. New features are the Today’s Health Forum series of discussions at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. both days, and a live broadcast of the 97.1 The Fan’s “The Big Show.” Former Ohio State football players Tim Anderson, Michael Doss and Craig Krenzel will participate in a Wall-to-Wall Sports discussion at 2 p.m. on August 18. Aspiring meteorologists can present their own forecast and leave with a free DVD recording of their predictions. The CBS Buzz Bus, containing a mobile broadcast studio, will visit on Sunday, complete with activities and free promotional items to commemorate CBS. Other attractions include the Weight-Loss Zone, Stress-Relief Zone, rock climbing wall, the Nationwide Children’s Hospital CareMobile and the OSU Mammography Bus (Sunday only). The 10TV on-air staff, including the anchor team of Kristyn Hartman and Jerry Revish, will meet and greet attendees. The 97.1 Kids Sports and Fitness Area will feature activities and games that encourage kids to be more active and have fun at the same time. Activity stages include the Fitness Stage, Meijer Health Cooking Stage and Donate Life Demonstration Stage. Presentations range from hip hop fitness and the Schmidt’s Diaper Derby to meeting zoo animals at noon on Sunday or learning about the weight-loss journey of Jared Fogle “The Subway Guy.” The Dispatch Broadcast Group includes WBNS-TV, WBNS-AM, WBNS-FM, ONN, Radio Sound Network and Dispatch Interactive Television in Columbus, as well as stations in Indianapolis.
